Jackson, MI's 1st ever "Pop-Up Gallery" begins today, December 5th, 2009

The NY Times reported - "   As the recession drags on and storefronts across New York remain empty, commercial landlords are turning to an unlikely new class of tenants: artists, who in flusher times tend to get pushed out rather than lured in.  And the price of entry is not deep pockets, but vivid imaginations and splashy exhibits - anything to lend the darkened buildings a sense of life..."  "These 'pop-up galleries,' as they are known in Britain, where the phenomenon is well established, are increasingly taking hold in New York as development advocates and landlords struggle to keep up appearances where commerce and construction have stalled..."

This extraordinary idea first started in the UK, has crossed the Atlantic to NYC, Chicago... and now even Jackson, MI.  This 1st of its kind event includes a broad range of styles and mediums of original & multi-media art available for purchase, while showcasing the talent of 8 local Jackson artists - Amy Dodds, Seth Kofflin, John Blank, Brian Miles, Jane Robinson, J.C. Smith, Connie Gallagher & Chris Blank.

This 2 day event is free and open to the public.  The "Pop-Up Gallery" is located at 2614 Kibby Road, located within the Kibby Cobb Plaza (see map).  Hours are Saturday, December 5th, 2009 from 10 to 5 and Sunday, December 6th from 12 to 4.

Stop by and meet the artists.  We hope to see you there.
